Epping & Harlow Community Transport

Keeping Our Community Moving!

Helping People Stay Connected!

Epping & Harlow Community Transport is a lifeline for local people who need reliable, flexible transport. Since 2001, and as an independent charity since 2015 under founder Angela Canham, the service has helped thousands stay connected. Today, it runs a fleet of nine wheelchair-accessible minibuses plus volunteer-driven cars, proudly serving communities across Epping and Harlow and beyond.

We reach into every corner – from Newhall, Church Langley, and Old Harlow to Sheering, Chigwell, Waltham Abbey, Willingale, and all the villages in between. Wherever people need us, we're there. Our journeys are as varied as the people we help: from essential hospital appointments and shopping trips to visiting loved ones, attending clubs, social activities, and much more. If it matters to you, we'll make sure you get there.

Angela explains: "Our objective is simple – to provide hassle-free transport for those who can't access conventional options, regardless of age, disability, or rural location. We proudly support local clubs, schools, colleges, and voluntary organisations, and even keep vital bus routes running where commercial operators have stepped away. Thanks to local council support and generous donations, we keep costs low for users. Our dedicated drivers, volunteers, and friendly admin team deliver a truly bespoke, caring service – and I'm incredibly proud of them all."

The charity doesn't just help individuals – it enables other charities and community groups to keep going by providing transport for their members and activities. Without this support, many local organisations would struggle to operate.

Joining the service is easy. Simply complete a membership form online or by post. Our friendly admin team will confirm acceptance and be your main point of contact for bookings. Many families arrange transport for loved ones this way. Invoices are sent monthly for any journeys provided.

Volunteering with the charity is hugely rewarding. Many people don't realise how challenging a simple trip to the shops can be for some – until they help make it possible. Even an hour of your time can make a big difference. If you'd like to support this vital work or donate to Community Transport, please get in touch.

Stories from the community

Today I took Mrs X to her health appointment, nothing interesting there. On her way back she asked me if we could stop at the garden centre. It was a lovely sunny day, and she really wanted to look at some plants. She was my last passenger; therefore, no-one was waiting. When she came out, she was beaming with some lovely mini daffodils in pots for her garden. For me it was a very simple thing to do but it meant the world to her. I take for granted how difficult it is for our passengers to do the most basic things that make them happy and how volunteering can make such a difference in their day. I had a wonderful day with all my passengers thank you Community Transport.

My dad loves getting on the bus and getting out of the house — it's more than just a journey, it's his lifeline. As his daughter, I'm so grateful to Epping & Harlow Community Transport for making this possible.
